First term accomplishments

A Passion for Education

In 2013, I committed to you that I would be a strong advocate for our children and public education. Four years ago, our community faced unprecedented population growth and the lack of schools to meet demand. Since the last election, together with your support and collaboration with large with all orders of government, we have been successful in opening 6 new schools in Ward H and make available before and after school care services in all new schools. I am also proud to say that I’ve been an active supporter of student achievement and quality education all my life. And I’m pleased to say that over the course of my term, we’ve made targeted investments to make sure students are set up for success for high school and beyond. In fact, the 5 year high school completion rate has increased over 10 percent and stands now at 80% currently. For our indigenous students, that rate has also increased by 30%. This means that more doors open for students beyond high school.

Choice for Communities
