FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Alberta’s NDP is inviting Albertans to share their views on AI data centres through a public consultation tour taking place this August.
Danielle Smith and the UCP aren’t doing their jobs and listening to Albertans – so we will.
The Premier has made her position clear – AI data centres are coming to Alberta, whether Albertans support them or not. At the same time, the UCP is exempting these projects from environmental studies and reviews and experts warn these projects could spike power prices.
The Alberta NDP supports investment and good jobs. But major projects must be in the public interest, transparent, and supported by communities.
“While the government and its so-called ‘concierge service’ take marching orders from billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg, the Alberta NDP is focused on engaging directly with Albertans and fighting for their priorities,” said Naheed Nenshi, leader of Alberta’s New Democrats. “We want to hear directly from Albertans about where they stand on AI data centres and what safeguards they expect to see in place.”
“Please join us and have your say. Together, we can make informed decisions that put Alberta’s best interests first.”
