Nathan Ip, Alberta NDP Critic for Jobs, issued the following statement on latest unemployment figures for Alberta

“Danielle Smith and the UCP are failing Albertans when it comes to unemployment and creating a crisis in our province that the rest of Western Canada is not experiencing.

“Today’s job numbers report from StatsCan confirmed that Alberta’s unemployment rate is amongst the highest in Canada and growing faster than in any other province.

“The UCP has launched an aggressive ‘Alberta is Calling’ campaign, but when folks arrive, a growing number of them remain unemployed, disproportionately those who are under 35. The Smith government is also failing newcomers coming to Alberta who are finding it difficult to enter the job market and an increasing number of individuals are finding themselves unemployed after completing their schooling.”
